How we work

How topics get picked

We write about something only after using it for a real task — a batch job, a deployment, a product we sell. If we have not used it ourselves, the article says so in plain words.

How we test

Numbers in our articles come from runs on the hardware and plans we name in the text. Vendor claims and estimates are labelled as such instead of being dressed up as measurements.

Corrections

When something turns out to be wrong, we fix the article and update its date. Send us the URL and what is wrong — we would rather be corrected than stay wrong.

Who writes here

This site is run by a small team that builds its own desktop tools — the same people who write the articles also build and test the software. Individual author pages are being written; until they are published, treat this as a team publication and hold the team responsible for every article.

How we use AI

• We use AI tools while drafting, editing and translating, and we say so instead of hiding it. A person reviews every article before it goes live and a person is accountable for what it claims.
• Any figure we present as a measurement comes from a run we did ourselves — never from a model's suggestion.
• When AI assistance is not enough to verify a claim, we mark it as unverified rather than publishing it as fact.

Contact and corrections

Email us for corrections, removal requests, or to tell us we got something wrong. Serious corrections get an answer, and the article gets fixed.
